Prior to the introduction of the RTX 40 SUPER series, there were speculations suggesting a that all of the upcoming custom designs will have one thing in common —an absence of standard PCIe 6/8-pin power connectors. NVIDIA had mandated that all SUPER cards must incorporate a 16-pin (12VHPWR) power connector, instead. This has been confirmed by the launch of RTX 4070 SUPER last week, where none of the new cards was equipped with older standard. Turns out that was not entirely correct.
Contrary to NVIDIA’s guidelines, one brand seems to have overlooked the request, opting for the standard dual 8-pin power connector configuration. This change can be seen on RTX 4070 SUPER iCraft, a custom design developed by the Chinese company MaxSun. This was spotted by @9550pro on the official company store. Metal Connector

Interestingly, MaxSun has two other RTX 4070 SUPER models, both adhering to the 16-pin connector requirement. The iCraft design in black stands out not only as the sole GPU with such a power connector in MaxSun’s lineup, but also as the only one in the entire RTX 4070 SUPER product portfolio across all board partners (and there are close to 70 already).

While there is a possibility that this could be an oversight—given the occasional typos from board partners — the presence of photos, product marketing slides, and full specs consistently confirming the power connector setup suggests otherwise.
