The best slippers for guys aren’t just a nice-to-have pair of shoes in your ever-expanding footwear rotation—no, no, no. The best men’s slippers will transform your tiny shoebox apartment into a bona fide castle, where you always reign supreme.

We're guessing that your home doesn't included heated floors. That's where a pair of thick, fuzzy slippies come in the clutch, keeping your still-thawing piggies toasty no matter how long it takes for the weather to properly settle into spring. Hell, even you if you’re capital-B Blessed enough to live in a capacious mansion with temperature-controlled flooring, a really great pair of slippers (or, in your case, velvet house shoes) will bring you ever-closer to domestic nirvana. Because at the end of the day, the one thing that puts us all on equal footing is how gross it feels to roam through a house barefoot, no matter how clean the floors are.

When it comes to choosing the best slippers for your needs, context is key. If you’re prone to sweaty feet in the cooler months, you’ll want to look for slippers featuring natural, moisture-wicking interiors like cotton, wool, and shearling linings. Fleece-linings are great for those with cold feet that need more than a pair of socks to warm up. And if your feet tend to get sore over extended periods of shlepping around the house, opt for a cushy midsole, like gel-infused memory foam, that offers stellar arch support.

Even if you've made it through winter largely unscathed, the appeal of a solid pair of slippers is pretty obvious. Regardless of the weather outside, your feet will always deserve a cozy landing pad. In fact, given that you'll be wearing them close to round-the-clock indefinitely—not just on lazy weekends and after-hours—you might want to spring for a few good pairs. That's right: a slipper rotation. How many is up to you. Ditto what type, because there is a wide—and wild-style supportive—variety. Whether you're after an elegant slip-on made from a ritzy blend of suede and shearling, or looking for a comfy memory-foam option (a.k.a sleeping bags for your feet), we rounded up our top picks: 15 of the best slippers for men, each uniquely suited to your needs.

Sizes: 6-17.5. Fit: True to size Upper: Suede Footbed lining: Shearling Sole: Rubber

For a brand that literally invented the footbed, it's not exactly a head-scratcher as to why Birkenstocks are so flippin' comfy. Said footbed is chiseled with supreme arch support and thick cork that molds to your feet over time. (Because if you're gonna wear shoes in your own home, they'd better be comfortable.) We're head over heels for Birkenstock's Boston and Arizona sandals, but the supple suede Zermatt slipper is what we recommend for in-home travel—from the couch to the kitchen and back again.

What to Wear 'Em With: Oversized chinos, a breezy button-down, and your go-to transitional knit.

Sizes: S-2XL. Fit: True to Size Upper: Polyester Footbed lining: Polyester Sole: Rubber

You don’t have to sacrifice comfort to save a few bucks–in fact, there are wallet-friendly slippers on the market that will treat your feet and your checking account right. We’re partial to these memory foam slippers by Dearfoams, which come padded out with gel-infused memory foam insoles reinforced with a sturdy rubber sole. Superior comfort aside, these cushy slippers are machine-washable so you can wear them whenever, wherever without catching the ick.

In our experience, the Dearforms are the lightest slipper out of the lot (not counting slippers that are backless). They've felt nice shuffling around the house and though the polyester fleece is decently warm, it's not as breathable as other options we've tried. That said, for less than $20 on sale, they'll last you long enough to save up for an upgrade.

What to Wear 'Em With: Fluffy cotton PJs or those workout shorts that look just as good at the gym as they do on the couch.

Sizes: 7-18. Fit: Whole sizes only; for ½ sizes go up one size Upper: Leather/genuine-shearling Footbed lining: Recycled polyester Sole: Synthetic

The pillowy soft texture, the warm embrace, the luscious suede—name a house shoe cozier than a pair of shearling slippers and we'll treat you to a primo bottle of mulled wine. And who better to satisfy your shearling fix than Ugg? The Scuff's uppers are decadent and the plush interiors will keep your piggies nice and toasted—a must for folks with cold floors. Plus, with the right pair of baggy jeans and a breezy cardigan, you could skip to your local bodega and nab yourself a street style credit in the process.

What to Wear ‘Em With: Sandler-adjacent sweats, big ol’ jorts, or a nubby sweater and a cup of your strongest roast.

Sizes: 3-14. Fit: Whole sizes only; for ½ sizes go down one size Upper: OOfoam Footbed lining: OOfoam. Sole: Synthetic

Your boss chewed you out. Traffic was wildly annoying. You were on your feet for hours on end. All you want to do at the end of the day is kick back, relax, and chill the hell out. Oofos' slate of footwear is made to help you recover, whether it's from a grueling workout or just a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. They're the shoes that athletes look forward to wearing after maxing out at the gym, so you can bet they'll make your regular-person dogs feel like they're getting the spa treatment whenever you wear them.

Okay, okay. We admit these aren't exactly what anyone pictures when they think of house slippers. But they're among the most comfortable and supportive slippers we've tried. They're not great if you're looking for a really cozy slipper, but they're waterproof and quick-drying, which makes them great shower shoes, too.

What to Wear 'Em With: Top-shelf swim trunks, your sportiest shorts, sweat-wicking anything.

Thermoball Traction Mule V Slippers

Sizes: 7-14. Fit: True to Size Upper: 100% recycled P.E.T. ripstop upper with a non-PFC durable water-repellent, recycled polyester insulation Footbed lining: Fleece Sole: Rubber

Sometimes the powers that be force you to leave the comforts of your couch in order to do something incredibly important outside (buy food, pick up your package before it mysteriously vanishes in the lobby, you get the gist). Other times, you're willingly outdoors—i.e. doing one of those impromptu nature walks in your local park or going full-throttle by way of camping. The North Face's Thermball Traction Mule V Slippers are engineered with a lightweight and water-resistant ripstop upper, recycled polyester insulation, grippy rubber soles, and a convertible heel that just happens to make it well-suited for pretty much everything. So, yeah—it can handle your hike up to see the stairs and the short walk to take out the trash just fine.

In our experience, The Thermoball Traction Mules are super light on the feet and that's due to the lightweight upper and insulation. They're great for stashing in a suitcase or duffel bag for traveling, and though we wouldn't really recommend taking any of these slippers out in any sort of precipitous weather, these held up pretty well in light rain thanks to the water-resistant uppers.

What to Wear ‘Em With: Crinkly nylon shorts, zip-off cargos, and anything else you’d normally wear grippy trail shoes with.

Sizes: 6-17.5. Fit: True to size Upper: Suede Footbed lining: Suede Sole: Suede

Charvet is one of the first names in old-world luxury craftsmanship for a reason. The brand's buttery-soft slippers are handmade out of Nappa leather in its French workshop, transforming your grungy studio apartment into a far-flung European castle every time you slip them on. Beyond the obvious flex involved in wearing slippers this luxe at home, it's the color that really got us: that soft shade of regal purple is so pretty you’ll want to show them off everywhere you can.

What to Wear 'Em With: An ascot and tweed trousers—or just a sumptuous silk robe and really nice jammies.

Sizes: 39-47. Fit: True to Size Upper: Calf hair Footbed lining: Leather Sole: Rubber

If you're the type of guy that spends an absurd amount of time debating whether to leave the top button open or buttoned up, and would quickly self-diagnose yourself as being allergic to any synthetics, then any ol' slipper won't do. Marni's terry slip-ons feature a molded leather insole encased in fluffy, soft cotton that's been striped an electric blue for even more texture. It's the type of slipper that can stand on its own but will elevate any outfit it's paired with. $600 might seems like a lot to drop on a pair of house shoes, you being, frankly, obsessed with details see the bigger picture—the picture being luxuriously stylish.

What to Wear 'Em With: A groovy bathrobe, linen PJ set, or just a really swanky hoodie and your biggest chinos.

Glerups' slippers are another great option in the slipper world. The felted wool upper imbues the comfy slippers with all the properties that make wool amazing in the first place. Namely, warmth, moisture-wicking, and breathability. This homebody version comes with a leather sole, but Glerups also makes a road-ready slipper, too, with a EVA rubber sole should you want to take them out for a spin.

Bombas Gripper Slippers are, if we're being honest, kind of weird. But we also can't look away. Nor can we deny how cozy these things really are. Hell, they're basically an extra extra thick sock with grippy padding attached to the soles. They've got a surprising amount of cushion and arch support, but don't get too comfortable—those grippy dots are definitely not made for any sort of outdoor wear. The Gripper Slippers pack flat, so they're a perfect travel companion, and you can even toss them in the laundry. Who wouldn't want to slip into a fresh hot pair of slippers straight out of the dryer?

As luscious as the Charvet option above (and about a third of the price), Lenys' downright regal velvet slippers are hand-made in Italy and lined with leather so you can lounge like a royal.

Clyde Australian Merino Sheepskin Scuff Mule Slippers

Who needs a $5,000 deep pile rug when you can wear these plush sheepskin scuffs instead? Overland's Clyde slippers use premium Australian merino sheepskin to swaddle your toes in cloud-like bliss. Plus, they boast one of the best-looking silhouettes of any slipper on this list. Our writer, Gerald Ortiz, sports these at home and reports that they've held up great, are plenty comfortable, and keep his feet toasty all winter long.

Part sneaker, part slipper, the Fear of God California is one of the cleanest slip-ons out there. It's also a damn-good house shoe that doesn't look like any of the staider designs you're used to (no disrespect to the suede moccasins and microfiber slippers of the world). Despite its baby-smooth appearance, these slippers aren't actually made from foam or EVA like some of the other options on this list. Instead, they're made from a luxuriously soft leather. Add to that a made-in-Italy pedigree and you've got a high-end slipper for a surprisingly modest price.
