Skin-baring footwear is a controversial trend indeed, but the current styles are undeniably chic. Striped Awning

15 Stylist Mesh Shoes in 2023

Sheer dresses aren't the only skin-baring trend that's in this season: mesh shoes are very of the moment, too. Yes, as in see-through footwear. It all started over summer, when It-girls and quiet luxury queens like Jennifer Lawrence and Sofia Richie were spotted wearing the polarizing peek-a-boo style in the form of ballet flats. Now the nearly-nude trend has expanded into high heels and some sheer shoes are even getting glitzy upgrades with sparkly little rhinestones—and honestly, it's hard to deny how darn cute they look when styled properly. The key? Pair them with wide-leg jeans and a half-tucked-in button down shirt. Or better yet, wear a pair with a denim dress. Trust us.

Ahead, the best mesh shoes to snap up and wear throughout fall.

The mesh shoe that started it all... The Row's minimalistic pair has had fashion girlies in a chokehold the last couple of months, and I get why. The sock-like design offers a comfortable fit, while the mesh makes the experience of walking around easy breezy.

See-through flats... combined with Mary Janes? Just think about how good they'll look with denim! So yes, you absolutely need them.

If mesh shoes were the biggest trend of the summer, than mesh shoes with sparkly crystals is the biggest trend of fall. Khaite leads the way with a Swarovski-encrusted slipper-style flat that is both comfy and irresistible.

Still not convinced by sheer shoes? Allow us to introduce you to these flats, from T&C's favorite footwear brand: Margaux. A modest take on the trend, the peek-a-boo shoes with a suede cap-toe offers the best of both worlds.

Colors Available: Black, Flamingo, Rose, Lemon

Dear Frances's version has taken over our Instagram feeds. Crafted from Italian mesh, the ballerinas deliver the look of a classic ballet flat but with a hint of skin. "I look to develop investment styles with a quiet aesthetic," says the brand's founder, Jane Frances, "pieces that can be worn and cherished forever is the heart of our slow fashion ethos."

Colors Available: White, Nude, Black

The shiny crystals! The baby blue hue! The prima ballerina-style strap! That little bow at the top! I can go on and on, but these Loeffler Randall's are cute as a button.

Leave it to Manolo Blahnik to take the mesh trends to new heights with a slim stiletto and all-over polka dots. Go ahead and give it a spin with a floaty skirt.

The fishnet upper makes these black Mary Janes subdued, but that millennial pink strap ups the feminine factor and adds the perfect pop of interest to any ensemble.

Red is undeniably having a moment, so why not give the color a go with this stand-out mesh pair? Just be sure to keep the rest of your look neutral to allow these stunners to really pop.

Jennifer Chamandi makes the trend less polarizing with a hint of mesh and an adjustable (and removable) strap that threads through her signature "Eye of the Needle" heels. Wear as Mary Janes or as classic ballet flats—they're chic either way.

If you look closely, these mesh shoes have subtle little speckles on them, which only adds to the cute factor. But throw in a pearl-embellished strap, you're looking at the chicest evening shoes of all. Consider these your go-to when you want to give your feed a rest from heels.

Just when you thought Aquazzura's signature bow tie pumps (a Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle favorite!) couldn't get any sexier, they got a sultry update with a fishnet upper. These are what we call showstoppers.

J.Crew's take on the mesh ballet flats features a higher vamp for extra coverage and a comfortable sole that's super easy to walk in. Plus, the fact that they're budget-friendly too gives us more reason to add to cart.

Roger Vivier levels up the mesh trend with an embroidered design and a statement buckle to top things off. We wouldn't expect anything less.

Go for glitz and glamour with a rhinestone embellished mesh heel. The holiday season is sneaking up on us after all...
