Oct. 23—TURBOTVILLE — Warrior Run School District directors at Monday night's meeting approved two payments totaling $528,836 for three LED display boards to be placed in the stadium, competition gym and the marquee on Susquehanna Trail.
Two companies were involved in the total: Watchfire LED Boards cost the district $382,736 and Strickler Signs will get $146,100 to install the signs, said Warrior Run District business manager Tyler Potts. Led Channel Letters
"Both companies are COSTARS vendors and the district contacted other vendors to explore other options," Potts said.
Later in the meeting, board members briefly discussed and then decided to extend the contract with Re/Max in an effort to sell the Turbotville Elementary School. They also approved a recommendation to lower the asking price by 10 percent to $675,000.
Harper Lust, Elementary School Citizen of the Month for October 2023 was recognized by the board: She is the daughter of Timothy and Nicole Lust, of Watsontown.
Junior/senior high school board representatives Judah Kennel, senior, Sara Gehrum, junior and Emmett Ranck, eighth grade, gave reports on October highlights at their respective schools.
The staff and administration of the Warrior School District and the School Board of Directors recognized golfer Hannah Rabb, District Champ, and runner up at the state tournament.
Reporting on PSSA testing results, Theresa Bartholomew, director of curriculum, said eighth grade students had made significant progress. "Scores were pretty consistent with what we see at the Elementary School level," she said. "Math has been the subject that suffers the most, post-COVID."
Led Beer Signs The district received a letter of resignation from the following individuals: Kathleen Schmid, cafeteria team member, effective Oct. 13; Jessica Goss, business office accounts payable/taxes, effective Oct. 27; and Megan Savitski, autism support teacher, effective Nov. 20.
