A Broken Arrow woman with dinosaur yard decorations receives a gift with a deeper meaning. Outdoor Ornaments
A Broken Arrow woman's love of dinosaurs has led to a yard display that's bringing smiles to her neighbors' faces, but their is one fan of the display that recently touched her heart.
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Decorating really wasn’t Leslie Breedlove’s thing, but one Christmas she found a dinosaur with a gift in its mouth.
That one dinosaur led to 50, which her neighbors in Broken Arrow say make their day.
Breedlove decorates her yard full of dinosaurs themed according to holidays year around.
A Broken Arrow woman with dinosaur yard decorations receives a gift with a deeper meaning.
"Halloween, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July and Easter and Memorial Day," Breedlove said.
One family decided to thank her by gifting her a mini dinosaur that had a deeper meaning.
The family dropped off the gift one night while Breedlove and her son were out trick or treating.
This was when the search began.
After posting on Facebook to find who was behind this kind gesture, she eventually found out who it was.
"So one of the people in the neighborhood, her nephew had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma right about the time that we moved here and started putting up our Christmas dinosaurs. This child loved dinosaurs and she started sending pictures of the display to them every time it would change," Breedlove said.
Sadly, Breedlove says the boy, named Liam, passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"They kept sending pictures to his mom because it brought so much joy to them. He would smile, he would laugh and just have a great time. So it helped them through their grief of losing their child at such a young age as well," Breedlove said.
After Breedlove has found out who was behind the gift, she named one of the dinosaurs after Liam in honor of him.
Breedlove says you never know what people are going through and the importance of doing your best to be kind.
"It's so true," said Breedlove. "I look at my dinosaurs and I just think it's just something fun and silly. Don’t really think about the gravity of it. Then you find out there’s a small child dying of cancer and its making them have a good day when they’re probably going through the worst time of their lives with their family."
She emphasized the importance of having fun in life and bringing positivity into the world.
"Do the things that makes you happy cause ultimately, we’re not here for a long time. So its really important that while we are here that we bring as much good as we can and that we really are just true to ourselves. Don’t be ashamed of that, even if it means a lot of dinosaurs in your yard," Breedlove said.
“20 Halloween dinosaurs. Somewhere around 40 Christmas dinosaurs, and we also decorate with dinosaurs for Valentine's Day, Saint Patrick's Day, Easter and then we have some red, white and blues for Memorial Day and 4th of July. It's not an addiction. No, it's not an addiction. It's not an addiction if you know it just makes me happy.” - The Dino Lady
